Thoughts?

I'm really unsure where to go, hoping to receive some insight here. 7 weeks ago I experienced severe lower left abdominal pain. I went to the dr. After a week of pain and I was put on Flagyl--thinking it was bacteria. Well time went by and I was having 3-4 bouts of diahrreah in the morning and 2-3 bathroom trips at night(most of the time I just was excreting mucus at night)

I went to a GI dr. Who asked about symptoms related to colon cancer(pencil stool, black or tar like stool, both negative btw) and he had me do a stool sample. I'm currently waiting for that to come back. Anyway, I woke up at 2am today and felt the urge to go to the bathroom every 20 minutes or so. Nothing came out, just mucus and occasionally some fecal matter..but mostly just mucus. This went on from 2am until 7:30am(about 15 bathroom trips) and subsided for most of the day. I think I've gone 4-5x since this morning. I'm just looking for insight, does any of this sound similar to your story? Or does it seem to be unrelated and just a complication from the bacteria?


Recently the last couple bathroom trips have just Been a red tinted mucus, I'm assuming blood. I don't know if it's blood from wiping so much, or by pushing/straining so hard. Or if it's sometimhing internal and more serious. Again I know your not anDr. I'm just looking for some direction to gauge my symptoms to

Thank you for your input. I forgot to add more demographic info 31/M. GI dr was not concerned and advised that a colonoscopy was not in order.

There can be viruses and bacterial infections that the stool studies don't pick up. Most of the time it will resolve on its own over time, but if you get worse or are not slowly recovering, then you might want to repeat the tests.
