I hate it when a proctitis flare up hits. Actually, it has always been there but can be quiet for a couple of days and then would re-appear. According to my GI, my rectum is not responding to Remicade. So, he suggested trying uceris/budesonide mmx/cortiment mmx. But sine I started my current flare up, we had to up the dose of entocort. As a result, the mmx form of budesonide had to wait. My GI even told me last time when I mentioned that my proctitis is acting up that it's not important at the moment; our concern now is the TI.
I take colifoam every other day as I have been taking a lot of steroids lately (ironically I'm losing weight). Today I added pentasa suppositories. I can't deal w the bunch of symptoms of stabbing pain in rectum, swollen rectum, nausea, headache (my GI does not link headache to proctitis -I do) and a general feeling of illness. It's not like that of a TI flare up.
A lot of times I wanted to ask my GI for a surgical option but I'm not ready yet plus my disease is not that severe. Yes, I do have a perianal fistula but my disease has never been that aggressive though my GI said it's not mild any more. But I think aggressive would mean being hospitalized and (touch wood) I haven't been so far.
Are there any other options to put proctitis into remission?
