Hi Bucko. There's a lot of different tests with a lot of different terminologies, and it can get pretty confusing. First of all, there are different types of endoscopies and I don't know which type you had. Most upper GI endoscopies only go as far as the duodenum, because it's impossible to get any lower without more specialist techniques, e.g. double balloon enteroscopy, capsule endoscopy. This Wiki article provides a decent overview:
/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EnteroscopyA small bowel follow through is an x-ray examination of your small bowel. You drink barium, a chalky white liquid, to make your bowels show up more clearly in x-ray images. Over the course of the next 2-3 hours, as the barium travels through you, you'll have x-rays of your abdomen taken every so often. Here is a decent overview of the different types of barium tests:
/patient.info/health/barium-swallowmealfollow-throughI have had SBFTs in the past, but the last one was about
10 years ago so I don't remember much about
it, other than it seeming to take forever. The barium is a bit grim, but if you can get down Moviprep you can get down barium.
