In hospital over a month.

On Humira 40mg weekly. Read that it could take a year to work on fistulas, which I have. Chronic abscessing although none present right now. It's been 7 months of hell with them. However, my bowel is excellent. Scope showed mild disease in lower sigmoid & rectum.

Should I continue on with Humira ? Or should I switch to Stelara & risk loosing the gains I've made with my bowel to try & heal fistulas?

Sorry you're still having issues. I didn't have any luck with Humira healing my rv fistula, but then entyvio hasn't either. It could just be because of the location, personally I've given up since I expect to have to end up with an ostomy in the next few years...

What does your doctor say about switching? Or is it up to you?

I personally would probably move on. If it's not getting you to a point where you're able to live life the way you want to, it doesn't really matter if your bowel is healed. That's just my opinion of course & I am aware that you could end up with bowel trouble on top of everything else, and that would be an awful nightmare. I just don't know what else you can do, you can't stay in the hospital forever I don't think - and I doubt you want to

I don't know about Humira. I would think that it would have started healing some of your fistulas and preventing new abscesses and fistulas by now. Have you noticed any improvement? What are your doctors saying?

I know my first inclination would be to stay on my current medication for another 5 months because I have had horrible reactions to almost every other medication I have tried so anything that even halfway works is better than something that may not work...

But if it wasn't working and my docs said to change...well I think I would probably try the new medication...but I would be scared.

I am sorry you are going thru this and have such difficult decisions to make.
