Hi, guys!
I'm 33 weeks pregnant and doing pretty good.
My GI of one year told me that he was leaving my hospital. Good. I never liked him anyway, but I guess my case was transferred to a new doctor, who has been ordering me to do blood work. After seeing the results of my regular blood work, (anemia and a very high MPV), she ordered more blood work, an Iron Series and B12 test.
I did that last blood draw today and 2 hours later, she called me and told me, "Your B12 is dirt. It's so low it's almost nonexistent. I'm surprised you're not sicker. We need to start you on B12 injections."
:O
Online, it says 1000mcg inj sc daily for 1 week, weekly for 1 month then monthly with tb/insulin needles/syringes
!!!
But I did some googling and it says B12 should only be administered when the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks of the fetus.
I don't like the sound of that at all.
It also said that it's transferred in the breastmilk and if the mother doesn't have B12, it won't be transferred to the baby in the breast milk.
T_T
So what am I supposed to do???
Here's what it said online:
2017/05/03 B-12 159 pg/mL 180-914 L B-12, serum
2017/05/03 IRON SATUR % 6 % 20-50 L iron saturation percent, serum
2017/05/03 TIBC 658 ug/dL 236-476 H iron binding capacity, total
2017/05/03 TRANSFERRIN 470 mg/dL 175-351 H transferrin, serum
2017/05/03 IRON 37 ug/dL 40-150 L iron, serum
Does this mean I have pernicious anemia and B12 deficiency?
I've never even had a surgery!
