Good morning everyone
Long story short, Diagnosed with Crohns roughly six years ago. Only symptom I ever had was bowel movements. Very recently ended up in hospital as had sever pain (never had pain ever and this was as though I had been shot in my side), after 4 nights in hospital ended up being put on a Polymeric diet using Ensure plus for 6 weeks, currently 3 weeks in.
Read lots about
Ensure and it seems there must be lots of options as the ones I have aren't high in sugar etc which all the reviews seem to state. I actually don't mind the drinking the formulas and didn't eat much during the day anyway so I probably get more nutrients using the drinks than I did food, as I would just eat Dinner and whatever snack etc. As a lover of all things food I have as you can imagine a massive urge to eat, never eat a McDonald's but literally crave one. The drinks along with antibiotics have worked well had no pain and my swelling I had in my stomach/right side had gone.
Main reason for the post was I cant find any real user experience about
eating on a Polymeric diet, yes you are not meant to but I did.........Had two meals over two days, Slice of Pizza and Chips and second day Roast Chicken breast, beetroot and potatoes. I decided to scratch the itch and just go back to Polymeric, which I have done successfully, I type this with 4 empty Ensure bottles next to me
and as mentioned I dont mind the diet, I miss the social gatherings and eating at weekends the most as i would go out for dinner once maybe twice a week.
Since eating last weekend, I have got a slight pain in the middle lower part of my stomach, not to sore and very bearable and wanted to know if anyone has used the diet with a similar experience? Surely someone has?
I wont be eating on it again that's for sure, I am allowed, black coffee/tea, dilute juice, Bovril etc so I can wet my pallet with something.
The other thought on the pain was maybe due to being fairly active. I got out of hospital on the Tuesday on the diet, played Golf on the Sat and Sun as had a big competition. Ended up qualifying and playing Tuesday/Wednesday the following week along with lots of practice in between maybe 200 balls a week, this has continued to now.
Be great to hear some feedback.
Thanks
Chris
