Hi,
Seeking some advice. I had a proctocolectomy in two stages about 10 years ago. First did colectomy - then I had terrible rectal pain/infection etc. and had a second surgery to remove my rectum and anus about a year later. Shockingly since then I have had very, very few problems. My stoma has been pain free and has had no falling apart, no blockages or anything. Esp. after reading some of the heart-rending posts here I feel very lucky.
Lately (past 2 months) I started experiencing urinary symptoms (some burning, frequency) - took some meds for that (mubetryq and baclofan) - and now somehow that has morphed into feeling like I have to urgently "push out" a stool from my non-existent rectum. Generalized pressure and pain nearly constant in that area now. CT scan showed nothing and a cystoscopy was hella painful but showed no issues with my bladder. Anyone have experience with this? Is it normal to go 10 years pain free and then just wake up with this kind of phantom rectal pain?
