What will alcohol do to me while on Methotrexate and Remicaid

I am Newly diagnosed with Crohn's. Looking back I truely believe I have had it for many years, but over the past year the stomach aches, diarrhea and blood in stool had gotten so bad that it brought me to seek medical help.
I have started giving myself an injection once a week of the Methotrexate and next week I go for my first infusion of Remicaid.
Before all this, I enjoyed having a cocktail with my husband in the evenings. That is as long as I wasn't sick with belly aches.
So my question now is what will happen if I have a beer or glass of wine while on these medication? Both say not to drink alcohol while on it. Does this mean I can never have a drink again??

I too am on methotrexate and Remicade. I have been on them for alittle over two years. I am 57 years old.

My pharmacist told me to never have any alcohol while on methotrexate.. I checked with two others and they said the same thing. My doctor said I could have half a glass of wine no more than once a month. No cocktails..or hard liqueur.

After the horror stories the three pharmacists told me I haven't had any... They said some people will have a drink and be fine but the next time they went into liver failure. My pharmacist, small town of about 3800 people, has personally known of 8-10 people it's happened to. So nothing for me. I have sparking grape juice....Lol...

But sometimes I really miss that glass of wine...

Thank you for the advice. This is exactly the kind of information I was looking for. My gasterologist told me an occasional glass of wine would probably be ok, but not too often.
I wanted to know more about why I can't have any, I thought it was because of the liver. I am really afraid to do more damage to myself by having alcohol, a drink is just not worth it; but I do miss being able to. I too am 57 yrs old, I guess this whole thing will be a life change for me. Thanks for your reply.
