Residual Abscess and Fistula

I am so sorry to hear you have fistulas. You'll see in my signature line that my husband had 7 perianal fistulas. He could find no relief from the pain of infection eating its way through his body. He couldn't sit which pretty much eliminated social activity.

He had surgeries and setons which helped drain the infection and that was wonderful in helping reduce pain. The setons felt weird when he was sitting and showering with multiple setons -- as you might be able to imagine.

That process was not intended to and did not get rid of the fistula-causing agents. More fistulas and more surgeries were to follow.

We were thankful to find an entirely different path, focused on identifying and resolving nutritional deficiencies and toxicities. That path equipped the body to heal itself. No more fistulas, no more other Crohn's symptoms.

Setons didn't work for me...landed me 6 weeks in hospital and went through serious withdrawal. They went through my levitor ani muscles so obviously they'd cause pain. I also kept abscessing while the setons were in. 7 or 8 i&D's and another coming.

Leslie can you please elaborate as too what your husband took to end this nightmare?

wjstreet---I'm the exception and have severe CD so please try not to be scared off. I'd go the abx route and hopefully that will address your abscess. Please let us know how we can help as setons work for the majority of people.
