The Miracle Poison....Prednisone.

My doctor has started weening me off of Prednisone and I was hoping to get some personal experience as to what to expect. Any thoughts?

How much prednisone are you weening off? And how long have you been on it?

I was only on it for two months. Started on 5mg but was brought up to 20mg after the first round.

I had to see my GI for the first time, so my family doc weened me off in time to see him. I don't remember my Crohns getting much worse like when it first came on.

Then the GI put me on Imuran after that. Also entocort. Or however you spell that steroid.

I did experience joint pain for a year or two after but that has faded.

I have been on Prednisone for 2 months. I was started on 40 mg and I am now down to 10 mg. I've read on other posts that people started having issues when they reached 10 mg. I am down to 5 mg and I've started experiencing pain again it's like my colon has just stopped working. I've had diarrhea since September and I was down to about 5 episodes a day until 5 mg. The diarrhea stopped and now I have not had a BM for 2 days. I thought I would celebrate the day when I didn't have diarrhea but it honestly scares me because everything is so quiet and still.

I had a fecal transplant in October for the C-Diff, I started Entyvio in November, and was told that it would probably take up to 6 months for my body and colon to heal from the C-Diff and Crohn's flare.

Any incite is appreciated.

I don't think you will have any long term worries. But I'm sure there are horror stories out there.
