fmla

I finally asked for fmla paperwork from my employer a couple of weeks ago and I still haven't gotten it. Does anyone here know if there is a time limit for them to respond? I actually just emailed my direct supervisor and let her know in case she could speed it up.

I'm only filing it now because I was recently reminded that I have a negative balance in my PTO bank. So it's obviously time to cover my backside so to speak and get the paperwork on file.

The problem isn't my supervisor it's the lady in HR. She isn't responding and she's the senior so I don't know who else I can go to. They are going to get emails daily until I get the paperwork.

Take a look at this fact sheet. It looks like there is a within five day requirement:

Thanks Gumby, I found that fact sheet on Monday. I just resent the email chain back to the woman in charge and copied her boss (who is not at this location). If I don't hear anything by end of day today, they will get another email tomorrow with the highlighted fact sheet attached.

Actually yes I did. It took finding out who the woman in HR reports to. It was someone offsite (multi-state corp) so I copied her on the email chain and magically I had my paperwork the next morning. Apparently she also owed a pregnant woman her paperwork also for maternity leave. I was able to get an appointment with my pcp same day and he was very willing to fill it out. He indicated I should have 1-2 days of fmla time a month, which works for me. If I need to change it in the future I can.

Oh and they make you use accrued PTO and sick time, neither of which I have right now. So any time off will be unpaid, but it will allow me to get back even with my pto time by the 2nd week of May. Just in time to put in a pto request for vacation in June...I swear I didn't plan it that way. It's just a relief to have this option now.
