So this was one of the things that has had me extremely anxious and panicked for the last few weeks. My GI doc who I felt was fantastic and the absolute best doctor I've dealt with (treated me like a person, good at solving issues when they came up, always listened, worked well with my other doctors) decided to leave the practice. I was invited to continue being his patient at the new practice. I even put off scheduling my remicade infusion because he told me he would let me know where to go for the new one. Well with a week to go and no word about the remicade I finally reached out. I was given several choices and then at the last minute- oops! the insurance will not work and guess who now has to find a new GI!
It's so frustrating and I'm kind of annoyed at myself for how upset I am about it. I thought it was one thing I had sorted out in my life and could stay steady while I deal with other issues. Doctor-shopping was not on the to-do list and my pcp may be leaving too. All it does is bring back how much trouble I had in the past with finding ones that worked. Anyone else go through this? Thanks for listening to my rant!

Oh, so sorry to see this has happened. Perhaps the old gi can recommend a particular dr in the practice he left. At least to get your infusion done. If you don't like the dr this will buy you some time to find another dr.. I think I saw 5 drs before I found the right one.

I jumped around for quite some time before this and probably saw about 5 different ones previously so was definitely ready to settle in one place for awhile. I’m working on looking on the bright side though, I will get a second opinion on the current treatment plan and I have a much better perspective than I did 2 years ago. Maybe if things change with my insurance I’ll reconsider everything but for now I have to work on going with it but I’ve been such an emotional wreck the last few weeks that this is unhelpful.

Sorry about that, Lab. Being forced to doctor-shop when you've already got a doctor you're perfectly happy with sucks massively - I've been there. Was forced to find a new GP when I moved three years ago. The current one is a good GP, but I still miss my old one sometimes. Plus he was a lot more lax about prescribing stuff, which I know shouldn't be a reason for wanting to stay with a GP - but yeah, for me it is. As for my GI I've been with him for seven years now, and not looking forward to the day he leaves. If his replacement isn't as good, I'll have to make a decision whether to switch hospital or not.

I hope you can find a good GI quickly.

Thanks @NCOT. I’m going to be going to someone else in the practice that my previous GI recommended I see. I had met him once several years ago briefly. It’s just so hard though. This was the first time I really trusted one of my doctors. Not that he wasn’t wrong once in a great while but he was always honest and I felt like I could ask him anything without feeling like a bother or that any of my symptoms where doubted especially when I would have odd things pop up that didn’t fit the normal expectation for it’s presentation. Usually just speaking to him about these things went along way in making me feel better or at least capable with dealing with what ever it was. He also saved me from having surgery when I had the stricture issues and numerous unnecessary procedures, scans and medications that other doctors wanted to prescribe.
