I have been living with Crohn's Disease for a little over 40 years. I still have problems today and they have not changed a bit in 40 years. I have never been in one of these forums. I recently thought, however, that at my age of 75 I might be able to help a younger person who is new to this troubling thing that we have to live with. There is no question that I use many swear words at times and have even invented some new ones, when I have an accident. I have learned that one of the biggest helps to me has been to use humor about what is not necessarily very funny, to those of us who have to put up with our poopy stuff. So here is a fun kind of poopy story. While fishing in Prince William Sound in Alaska, my friend and I were in an open boat. I had to go bad. I jumped on a 5 gallon bucket and got the relief I so desperately needed. After cleaning up I realized that I had just sat on my bucket in front of a 24 hour a day web cam that broadcasted world wide. I laughed and wondered how many people might have been looking at it and making some sort of comment about it. If I can live with it for over 40 years with all of the hospitalizations, tests, poking, prodding and poopy pants causing such embarrassing moments, you can too. Keep a smile on your face and make fun of it as much as you can. It is something you can live with if you deal with it with a few swear words and a smile.
