Not diagnose yet

I was diagnosed in 2017 with Barrets esophagus. I’ve had GERD and gastritis since I remember. I’ve been having on a off abdominal pain, bloating/inflammation, for about a year. The past 6 months it’s been different, it’s not going away. I had a follow up endoscopy in June to check Barretts and my GI decided to do a colonoscopy to make sure everything was ok. He tested me for celiac and was negative. The colonoscopy showed granulomas in part of the colon but the other 2 tests were negative so he said it was not enough to diagnose me with Chrons D. I’ve been to the ER 3X in the past 2 months with excruciating pain that is not going away completely. Last CT Scan showed a significant inflammation at the end of the small intestine and begging of the large intestine. I’m getting another colonoscopy Friday 9/7/18 and he repeated all blood work to confirm diagnosis for Chrons. He put me on Pentasa which is making me sick due to my reflux problems. I’m in so much pain, taking Tramadol but if I take too much it hurts my stomach. I’m so worried, my life has changed, I’m in constant pain and don’t know if I get a real diagnosis would I be able to have a normal life? Please advise. I have cronic constipation and on Lynses for it but isn’t helping. My Dr says I am not a typical case of CD

You seem to be having Crohn's symptoms. DId they take biopsies during your last colonoscopy? This is the only way to confirm a Crohn's diagnosis. Prescribing Pentasa is extremely outdated, and will do nothing for your symptoms. You could still bery well have several other things going on, so I wouldn't get to worried just yet. Did your bloodwork show any abnormalitites? Particularly have them check your C-reactive protein and Sedimentation rate. Also, iron, iron stores, Vit. D, and WBC count. Do you have any protrusions around your lower right side? Are you feeling extremely tired/listless?

If they do confirm a Crohn's diagnosis, they will likely prescribe an 8 week course of Prednisone. No point going into any further detail until if and when you get to that point. In the meantime, try sticking to a low residue diet. This might help your pain. Hope you're feeling better soon. Try not to worry, they will get to the bottom of things, and get you properly treated soon.

Unfortunately there is no blood test (or tests) that can rule out Crohn's completely. There are blood test results that, when negative, mean it's less likely to be Crohn's, but no negative blood test result means a person 100% doesn't have it.

The colonoscopy will tell you a lot more than blood test results, hopefully. Good luck with it!
