crohn's disease and bipolar

I have crohn's disease and bipolar 2, my dr put me on a month doodle of prednisone and within the first 3 days of taking it I became manic , I’ve never been this miserable due to mania in my life I then researched it , prednisone causes manic episodes and shouldn’t the given to bipolar people . Does anyone have bipolar 2 or even 1? My drs next step I think is remocade and I’m terrified it will make me like this again any suggestions on medications?

While i don't know if it will mess with your bipolar, I did take remicade for years and had very little side effects with it besides night sweats for a while. After that went away it was a great med for me. I'd check with psychiatrist or the doc on that one. Anyway I hope the Remi is good for you too.

My daughter has bipolar disorder as well as multiple sclerosis. Her MS doc prescribed a steroid without knowing how it would clash with her bipolar meds. It took us a while to realize WHY she was so manic. It was caused from the mix of meds. It's now charted with all her doctors. My husband has Crohn's and has had good results with remicade. In your case, I'd make sure to ask if there are any steroids in the med and also WHY you're asking.
