Hi all! I'm new to this forum, my friend who is a member referred me over. I live in the US.
I have been diagnosed with Sjogrens Syndrome, Lyme, Bartonella, Babesia and Ehrlichia; then July 2018 diagnosed with Yersinia enterocolitica. My Quest diagnostic test came back positive with 1.01 result (less than .90 is negative). Now after treating for 6 months took the test again and my number went up to 4.46. It seems like a huge jump up after treating for 6 months. My Dr. said he was concerned and now has me on 3 antibiotics to hit it harder. 2 days Azithromycin, 2 days Minocycline and 3 days Doxycycline.
I'm not sure exactly when I got this infection but I think probably April 2018. It's been a big struggle with severe abdominal pain and now a lot of rectal pain. Not to mention, the symptoms that exist with all the other illnesses. Quite honestly, I think the symptoms are all a big melting pot from each issue.

My biggest question is trying to understand how serious this 4.46 test result is,
And does anyone have any experience with this disease?

Hi Alisia, I did a google search & looked this up as I had no idea what yersinia entercolitica is. I found an article on the CDC's website & read it. From what I read the usual culprit is under cooked or raw pork is the usual culprit. It also stated contaminated milk & water can cause it. Besides the intestinal issues, rashes & joint pain was listed as symptoms.

I do not know why there was such an increase in your recent lab work. I am going to assume you were diagnosed by way of stool testing. What kind of dr is treating you for this? Since your numbers are going up instead of down, would your dr consider sending you for a consult with an infectious disease?

Hi Susie, thank you for your response, also it was thoughtful of you to do some research on it.

Interestingly you brought up what I was wondering myself. I’m going to see if the infection and symptoms improve after the 30 days on these antibiotics and I go in for my follow up. If my symptoms worsen before that 30 days are up I’m going to find an infectious medicine dr and if my numbers don’t improve after the 30 days I’ll find an infectious med dr. That’s my plan for the time being.

Alisia, I forgot to mention when reading about your infection that there are specific classes of antibiotics used to treat this infection. I see you are on 3 different antibiotics, I am assuming to treat Lyme. This may be why the infection is not responding if you are not on the proper one to treat the infection.

Hi Susie, you're right there are specific classes of antibiotics. The ones I'm on are supposed to target this infection. Even in the resources I've read it was reiterated in that information so it gave me peace of mind that I'm on the right track. I just hope I respond and respond quickly. I've been on these for 2 1/2 weeks (the minocycline for 7 months) so far but no improvement in the abdominal pain. :-(

If the disease is caused by pork, milk or water; maybe a water filter would help? I'm not trying to be obtuse. It would be such a tragedy if you're being treated but are still being reinfected.

Hi Zoolandermsm!
I hear you. But yes, I only drink filtered water. I eat a very clean diet as well, organic produce that I wash well and organic pasture raised chicken etc.
Its unfortunate that it’s hard to know how and when exactly I got infected.
