I really should have known better than to feel positive

As the title says... I was doing well, finally figured out how to exercise every day, despite being on my own with a nuclear-powered toddler and a big dog. I even dared to dream that by the end of this summer I will be able to take my wee one swimming (she loves water but I can only go into the water up to my thighs)... and then surgery #6 comes and BAM!

My surgeon was called into an emergency surgery while I was already under so I couldn’t refuse the swap. And the muppet who operated on me... well. Guess this is the price to pay for having a mega surgeon.

Now my remaining fistula has THREE external stitches which are infected, is now leaking again and it will be a miracle if that imbecil surgeon hasn’t made my finally tiny fistula worse!!!

Oh and I got a massive cold on top of everything and am nearly deaf in my right ear because of it. Ooh yes and there’s also the stupid 40C heat.

Sorry for the moan but I always have nothing but a brave face on for my girls but this time it really hit me hard. My mom currently has both my babies so I’m allowing myself a little pity party.

I just hope the stitches on the external opening won’t **** everything up.

As if having this awful disease isn't enough, then you have to deal with incompetence. Such a tough ordeal. What's the plan for you now going forward? Are you considering a referral to another surgeon? Really hope things improve in the coming weeks. Keep us posted.

I know got really bad D due to the antibiotics to treat the infection. I normally tolerate them well but I’ve been in a post-surgery diet to avoid constipation and that’s clearly not compatible with the antibiotics. D is NOT good news for the leaking, raw fistula.

My surgeon had left that hospital, I was (well was meant to be) his last surgery. Luckily he’s actually moving into the capital city where I am.

I’m definitely staying with him. He’s made an absolutely massive improvement to my fistulas and he’s probably the very best I can get in my country. This wouldn’t have happened had HE operated on me.

He uses Whatsapp but he’s now without an office as he’s choosing between two hospitals to take residency in. And he’s moving his family, I assume.

I’ve already messaged him twice but will have to do it again. I always feel awkward sending him a message on Whatsapp.
