Hello
New here. 47 y/o male w/ Crohn’s for 27 years. Ileocecal resection 14 yrs ago. Currently on Humira.
My question involves pain. I’ve had pain on the left side of my belly button (feels like someone poking me with a stick). Stopped eating meats, vegs and fruits and that pain has dropped from 5 to 1. Just had a colonoscopy and was told everything looks fine. Could find nothing that would be causing pain. Blood tests fine. Stool tests fine.
Doc thinks bacterial overgrowth and have started Rifaximin.
Does anyone else get this kind of crampy pain? I feel like I’m going nuts. If everything looks normal, then why does my stomach hurt and I have no appetite?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Kmart,

That's an odd thing to have happen. Are your bowel movements normal (no weird gas or diarrhea)?

If bowel habits haven't changed then bacterial overgrowth seems unlikely.

Have you tried buscopan, or any over the counter antispasmodic? Sometimes the bowel can get out of rhythm...

I hope things settle, or somehow the rifaximin helps.

( Pretty good that the colonoscopy looked fine anyway.)

With good scopes, and your other test all coming up fine, then I wouldn't suspect anything sinister. Could be viral, or something off that you injested. You might try a very bland diet for a week or so and then introduce regular foods again.

Have you had any abdominal MRIs? The colonoscopy, of course, only sees your colon. There's still 20+ feet of small bowel that isn't seen by a colonoscopy. It could even be something other than intestinal,like kidneys or bladder or other things.
