Breakthrough Infections & immune suppressive medications

Paul, not sure where you read the article at, I've been reading a lot of the studies on covid & IBD patients. I haven't read anything yet stating this. There are people getting the virus after being fully vaccinated that do not have IBD. GI's are telling their patients to get the vaccine whether they are on an immunosuppressant or not. If it's an injectable they may have them get the vaccine a week before the next injection is due, or hold an infusion a week. Prednisone seems to be one that drs say be off of it at least 2 weeks before getting the vaccine. I've gotten both Moderna shots.

Organ transplant patients are on a much higher dose of immunosuppressant medications than folks with IBD, often the same applies with RA. JHU & some other teaching hospitals are doing antibody studies on IBD patients that has received the vaccine. The numbers are all over the place, from low to high antibodies, it's strange. One member on here had higher antibodies than her husband that does not have an IBD, so it's going to take a long time to see how all of this shapes up, lots of unknowns at the present time. We have a friend that is a liver transplant patient, he has been super careful, has received both shots, so far things have been good for him.
