Loud bowel sounds?

Hey everyone, been a while since I posted, but I lurk and check at least once a day. Life has just been busy.

A few months ago I had my 5th miscarriage. It's really okay, I'm kind of used to it at this point. And I wasn't far along, like the bleeding started the day after a super faint line on a pregnancy test.

But since then I've been bleeding for 2 weeks, stop for 10 days, bleed again for 2 weeks, stop for 10 days. I've lost a lot of blood and my iron dropped. I had an appt with my OB, but it wasn't until yesterday because she was out for 3 weeks. (How dare a doctor put their family over their patients, right?! - kidding, kidding)

But a few weeks ago I got super lethargic and almost passed out getting the kids to gymnastics. Then when I urinated, I felt an intense tugging (no pain, just tugging) that went through my urethra and up my back.

I went to the ER, they did ultrasound, CT, and other stuff. Turns out I had a nasty UTI, so they put me on 10 days of Bactrim. I also started popping Florastor like crazy. 8 bouts of c. diff and an FMT - no way I want to do that again.

The ultrasounds showed I have a cyst in my uterus (not ovary, which is rare) and it's coated by a ton of tissue. Whether it's fetal tissue that never passed or just gunk (I did have my 3rd kid 18 months ago via c-section), it needs to get cleared out. The hospitalist wanted to admit me, but the OB covering for mine said to send me home and have me follow up.

I tried to follow up and the OB refused to see me, said I could wait till mine got back. I saw her yesterday, and she was infuriated it. We've scheduled a D&C for Thursday, but also like a scope as well. She's going to take tons of pictures and figure out what exactly is going on in there.

Here's the whole reason for the post. The last day of the Bactrim was Saturday morning (it's now Tuesday night). Since like Thursday last week I have had URGENT diarrhea on occasion. Like, sudden cramping out of nowhere and it explodes out and I almost had an accident that day and again today. After that one time it didn't happen again, but now it's happened a few times today.

My stomach is also LOUD. You can hear it gurgle across the entire room. I was cuddling with my 5yo before his bedtime, and he kept patting my tummy and saying, "Poor tummy" each time it made a noise. (Glad my Crohn's is good for something - teaches my kids empathy lol)

I'm really, really hoping this is just upset tummy from the Bactrim. I also stopped the Florastor the same day as the last day of Bactrim, because I just hate how probiotics taste.

Anyways, I can't remember what causes loud stomach gurgling. Gut flora imbalance? Strictures? Someone please remind me here.

The D&C is outpatient, and a part of me wants to call and be like, "Can you just admit me till Thursday morning when I'm scheduled so I can get fluids, nausea, and pain meds?" Because I am super nauseated and the pain isn't much fun either.

So basically, I just needed to complain it all out and then get some feedback. Cause I make myself crazy sometimes with having to judge how bad something is, you know?

I am sorry about the tough time. I can relate to complaining it all out. It gets frustrating to have nonstop medical issues.

I had some loud gurgling and urgent D after my 2 recent rounds of antibiotics. I think it took me a good week before I started feeling like I was getting every thing back in balance.

Hi scifigal. Nice to see you again, but sorry about the circumstances :-/

I think if you had a stricture causing the loud gurgles, there would also be pain and pressure at the narrowed parts. My partial obstructions used to sound like drainpipes being unclogged but only once they started to clear themselves - before that, it was silence (no bowel sounds), pain and pressure all the way.

So hopefully you don't have a stricture, but a more easily treatable gut flora imbalance. Good luck with your surgery when you have it. You don't mention it, but if you've lost that much iron you will probably need an iron infusion to replenish your iron stores. Might be best to have the surgery first though, so it doesn't drop again.
