Hi Everyone,
I’m new here and looking forward to supporting others with crohns. Does anyone know if flares or taking prednisone can put your WBC up?

Flares have increased my WBC. It's the inflammation and infections in the GI tract. Once I was on Prednisone my WBC came back down..

Unsure how it is with others though.

I was told that prednisone can prevent your WBC from elevating. I've not had WBC elevate much during a flare - only if there is a secondary infection, like an abscess.

Yes definitely. Elevated WBCs means inflammation. When I flare up, my WBCs rise up; that’s why I was put on both Imuran and Remicade to reduce inflammation. Pred reduces inflammation too.
