Read about the new preventive COVID-19 medication for immunocompromised patients or those who do not benefit or cannot tolerate vaccines. These are two monoclonal antibodies given as to successive intramuscular injections. I was just wondering whether these were tested to be given with Remicade (infliximab) or not. Are all immunocompromised patients eligible or are there certain criteria?

Minnie, here in the US it's only available in a limited supply right now. It's being given to high risk patients that do not have any antibodies after being vaccinated with shots & boosters. Mainly transplant people are on much higher doses of immunosuppressants than an IBD patient, HIV patients & some elderly. Maybe in 6 months more of it will be available here. Some earlier studies showed Remicade may help prevent the virus with the shots.

Clo has had all of her shots & does not have any antibodies, her ID dr can't help her get the shot, he told her maybe in 6 months.

Thank you for the info. Yes, I was thinking along these lines. As IBD patients on immunosuppressants, especially infliximab, our reservoir of antibodies is very low. My GI suggested that I should get a third and a fourth vaccine shot as Remicade would affect reservoir of the vaccine. I’m now recovering from my third official infection with Coronavirus though I’ve taken two AstraZeneca vaccine shots.
