Hello.
I wanted to share quickly my story:
Bio: 50 yr old male.
A few years ago I developed an anal abscess, went into doctor, had an in-house surgery that day to take care of it.
Painful and never really went away and turned into a fistula, which then I needed to have major surgery.
That was about 4 years ago. I was still having a 'wet bottom' with leakage. The same surgeon - really nice guy - said that it looked like the fistula was totally healed, and I mentioned that I still had leakage, and uncomfortableness. He took a look and said that he sees a divot in the anal opening ( that must have happened during the surgery the 2nd time ). He wanted me to do some tests to figure where the problem was.
I went in early 2022 and had tests done - very humiliating, but needed to be done I guess to figure things out. So, it turns out that it was that divot that was causing the leakage.
So, I had the anal flap surgery done on Nov. 1st of this year, 2022 - 7 weeks ago.
I am now 7 weeks after the surgery. I still have the leakage, and itching, and feels like liquid is percolating near / in the anus. I just went to a follow up with my surgeon yesterday, and I said that most of the pain from the surgery has past but the reasons why I had the (3rd) surgery done in the first place were still there. The leakage, the feeling liquid, the uncomfortableness, etc. He took a look at the surgery from what he had just done and he said that it looks good, and is still healing.
My questions to anyone who has had this:
Is it normal, after the flap surgery done 7 weeks ago, still to have the same symptoms as before? Leakage, uncomfortable feeling? It seems to me that the leakage should have stopped by now, but I am no doctor.
I thank you for taking the time to read my post, and possibly reply.
