Is it possible to have mild Crohn’s?
Hello, I apologize for my ignorance but I’ve been having dark red blood mixed in my stools with nearly every bowel movement for over a month now. I don’t really have any other noticeable or significant symptoms unless I’m minimizing them unintentionally.
In any case, this isn’t my first episode of rectal bleeding, I had an episode in 2009 and again in 2017. In 2017 I had a colonoscopy that took a biopsy. They found segmental inflammation from my rectum to my distal sigmoid colon and the biopsy revealed evidence of chronic colitis. No other diagnosis or treatment was found or pursued.
Is it possible that I’ve had untreated Crohn’s since 2017 (possibly even earlier) even though I don’t experience diarrhea? Occasionally I have an urgency to have a bowel movement and sometimes I have stomach aches but I don’t have a lot of the symptoms I’ve read about like weight loss or diarrhea. I have another colonoscopy scheduled but could this really be IBD?
If this does end up being IBD, I’m rather terrified. I have anxiety and panic disorder. It’s not my intention to be over dramatic but is it a death sentence/is life as I know it over?
Thanks.
