Hello All,

I wanted to know if anyone deals with PG of the skin. My son just got dx’d with it after having it flare 3 times in the past and the doctors treating it like MRSA. He was on Humira in the past for HS but stopped after a chf in insurance. When he asked to see his dermatologist because he felt it coming on they booked him for an appointment in Dec. so he ends up with a very bad leg wound. Someone said it can be related to crohns but he’s never had IBS symptoms. Just curious if anyone has knowledge of it.

RS2022, yes we have had crohns members in the past that had PG. People with autoimmune issues are a little more prone to get it., same with people with arthritis. Anyone can get PG.

I urge you to go to the Mayo Clinic's website, they have some detailed information about this. I'm confused about why your son was put on Humira, what is HS?

I'm sorry your son is dealing with this, perhaps try seeing a different dermatologist. December seems to be too far out.

Thanks I will definitely check out that website! Hidradenitis suppurativa (an inflammatory skin issue). It goes with PG. Thankfully the hospital we took him to had a great team of dermatologist who are the ones who finally diagnosed my son and have put together a treatment plan (steroids first then Humira….controls not HS & PG). Sometimes it’s the smaller hospitals where you get the best results. Thanks so much for the info.
