I'm having a colonoscopy for next week and afraid the bowel prep won't produce any bowel movements. It's the Miralax bowel prep. Anyone had a bowel prep which did not produce any bowel movements?

marip1,
There have been a couple of times where my prep did not work as well as it should.
My GI and I started a "pre-prep" period of a week. The week prior to the serious prep I'd start taking milk of Magnesia nightly/daily. This seems to help me...
My last prep was with the miralax and it went ok.

The other colonoscopies were they rescheduled or did your doctor give you something else to take the morning of your colonoscopy?

The other scopes were scheduled. I have a colostomy. My out put is particularly "sticky", so we have had issues getting the internal "sidewalls" clean.. so we started the pre prep period to help loosen things up.
Example... Scheduled for December 15. On December 1st Or December 7th (depending on my symptoms and general health) Id start taking 30 mL of Milk of Magnesia daily until the day of my final Miralax prep. Final day before scope it was Miralax prep only.
If the pre prep was not working and I was having "slimy sticky stools" sticking to the toilet refusing to flush down the first time...I would increase my Milk of Magnesia to 2 15 mL doses or 2 20 mL doses per day. (I only had to do that a couple of times and even then it was for not more than 5 to 7 days before the scheduled scope) sorry for the graphics but that's how we determined what I should do.
This should be carefully considered and monitored. Once or twice I ended up in hospital because of electrolyte imbalance.
When my cleansing didn't do a thorough job... We found out during the scope, he tried to finish it.. but I did have to do a "redo" because it wasn't clean enough. Redo was scheduled according to my health at time of scope.
