NY-Sooner,
I'm on Remicade. I have an aggressive severe form of Crohn's. 2 GIs gave me 3 to 6 months to live if we could not get it under control very quickly. They were considering stem cell transplant.... Instead I started Remicade.
I still have some symptoms. I ended up with a colostomy. I've had 4 surgeries since 2016. I've been on Remicade since 2015? Or 2014.... Every 4 to 6 weeks my body starts having issues until I have my Remicade infusion. After Remicade I do fairly well for 5 weeks. Q
They told me upfront that they didn't believe anything would Aleve most of my symptoms but they were hopeful they could save and extend my life. They have reiterated that frequently. I will never be off a biologic.
Life is sweet. I am grateful to be as good as I am.
I do personally know 4 to 6 people that are on Remicade for over 12 years...2 of them at 20 years.... They are doing well. They occasionally do have very small blips where they may not feel well for a few days to a week.... But they have not had flares like I flare. They are on dual therapy and not Remicade alone.
They don't post... They are busy living their lives. (4 of them are younger than 45) I am thrilled and envious of them.
