upping remicade doseage?

Right now I am on the standard 5mg/kg..started this about 5 infusions ago and now I am having problems all over again...my doctor has reccomended going to the max dose of 10mg/kg every 4-6weeks...did any of you that have done this see any great improvements??..also those of you on remicade then was put on an immunosurpessant(sorry sp) in combination..did that help at all??..tia

Mine was doubled after a few infusions. It worked better after that.

I was doubled after nearly a year, and I had a delayed reaction. I'm sure you'll be fine, but watch for all the normal stuff, like rashes, fever, etc. I'm also on azathioprine (Imuran), and I'm not sure if it really helped out, but I was mainly on it to try and help stop a reaction from happening.

Hi Danielle I have been on Imuran since starting Rem. actually I am wondering what your symnptoms are .It is hard to say what helps with taking the two meds and pred. I read your first absc. story and was greatful it wasn't my rear but forgive me I did get a chuckle out of your description. Also was wondering at how many infusions people get the Rem. upped I had 4.lol gail

Mine was increased 2 years after I began and it lasted longer for me

I have had several increases over the past year and a half. I am now at the max dose of 10mg/kg every 4 weeks. I didn't really notice much of a difference or improvement in my symptoms; however, I just had a Colo a few days ago and the GI said there was an amazing improvement from my last Colo. Still symptomatic, but healing inside, if that makes any sense.... Good luck to you! Julie
