Worst cold chills of my life!!. So Im driviing to chicago, it should take 5 hours. But towards the end I got the worst cold chils ever. I was shivering everywhere. Now Im under the covers in the hotel and starting to warm back up. Could this be a side effect to Predisone?

do you have a fever?... sometimes the shaking chills can be a precurser to something serious. i would mention it to your dr.

Hi Final Like Randy said check your temp.Hope your feeling better by now. Not sure if the pred. can give you chills or not.I never had any serious chills from it let us know how your doing.Glad your finally warming up again I never did like those things but they never seemed to laast long when I had them hope your not getting a cold. lol gail

had a fever of 102 for most the night and could not even keep water down. Pretty much did not sleep at all. Bu tdoing better and keeping liquids down. Dosen't help that Im 6 hours away from home in chicago for the weekend.

Hey FinalMacGyver sorry about the chills, sure hope you get feeling better soon. On an off topic, I was wondering how you and your family are doing with all that flooding in Ohio. I know you said your doctors office was flooded, have you or your family been effected by it at all? Sending good thoughts your way.

We got lucky, no flooding at our house but I live in shelby, ohio which was one of the worst hit. The entire downtown flooded

MacGyer, you have my sympathies! I full well understand that bone killing chill. I encounter it occasionally, usually after a big meal if its going to happen, and NOTHING but putting on some fleece PJs, crawling in bed under all the covers, including a down sleeping bag and toughing it out seems to help - the EXCEPTION being that often a hot cup of tea or something hot your tummy can tolerate (if you have any nausea or queasies - I don't unless it is a virus that's hit). I don't run a fever w/the chills after eating but my temp does drop - as low as 94.5 on occasion by otic thermometer.

On one occasion of horrendous chills, I also had intermittent, traveling bone aches and ended up in ER. My admittance temp was 97.7 otic, but the sheisters did a rectal when they got me back in the room and it was 104.6! Dx was a "virus".

mention it to your doctor. chills like that could be a fistula burrowing or beginnings of a perforation. they will likely want to do some septic checks depending on your history. call your doc.

I would call ur DR esp being on pred with that temp. If I have any temp of 101.5 or over I go to the er.

I would also mention it to your Dr....keep monitoring your temp. The only time I have had those down to your bone chills was just prior to a major flare. Sounds like something might be brewing....drink lots of fluids and don't hesitate to go to the ER if you need it.Good luck....love and prayers

This question has been interesting for me. i had a similar type of thing i felt freezing cold and couldnt stop shivering/shaking. I went to the hospital, they didnt mention anything about it being connected to crohns or tablets i was on. In the end they said it was a slight kidney infection, gave me antibiotics and i never had it again.

I actually have this every time I have had a partial obstruction. Before I start vomiting and while cramping I have those terrible chills and shivering, and I can't stop or control them, even if I put a lot of clothes and blankets on... I shake so much that I wonder if I will have any bones left to carry my flesh ;-) The chills won't stop untill I have vomited the last tiny piece of food that could be hidden in a forgotten corner of my small intestine, so I am freezing often more than 7 - 8 hours each attac. The funny thing is that my temperature could be lower than normal, so no fever at all......I have never got an answer from a doctor why this is happening, but I know crohnies do experience this a lot. One doctor said that it maybe could be because I have a hard time with terrible pain, so it is the body's way to react due to the pain....

I wonder if these massive chills are part of the crohns and not the meds.  Back about a year ago I had a small fever but chills so bad I could not walk...literally could not walk.  I could not sleep so i was up atthe computer very late (1 or 2 AM)  I started to get chilled and then just started shaking so bad I tried to walk to the shower and could not stand up...I crawled, actually dragged my body using only my arms into the bathroom...I tried to call for my wife, but could not get my voice above a very hoarse whisper.  I made it into the shower and started a very hot shower (now been told hot showers are a bad thing for the chills).  After about 30 minutes my legs started to get feeling back in them and I fell into our bed exhausted.  This happened again for the next two days and nights....and one night I woke up and tried to get out of bed....no chills but my entire lower body was without any feeling and would not work...I collapsed to the floor.   The doctors could not find any cause...no infection....very low fever for just one of the days....NOTHING!!!!  

I was not on any meds at the time so that could not have been the cause.....but now I read where so many of us have had these major chills and makes me wonder.

I just got a chance to read this thread. I hope you made it home ok and are feeling better by now. I have had chills too and when I get cold like that I have the hardest time getting warm. I always ask hubby if I feel feverish to him or take my temp and it is never high. This has happened to me prior to going on any CD meds.  I usually take a warm shower or bath then cover up in blankets. Karen

Must have been awful for you being so unwell away from home. When I've been like that my husband has said my teeth are going to break I'm shivering so bad, must be so much worse away from familar surroundings. Hope your better now.

please anyone, is there any fix for this. I have extreme chills and hot flashes. My life is not the way it should be. It gets soooo cold that I would rather die but I cannot. My family depends on me, please someone tell me is there a fix for this. I have my first GI appt. on the 12th of April. Please give me hope and tell me someone is beating this.
