GI today--should I ask for the prometheus test?

my GI and I have never talked about it, and it seems I have read good and bad about it here. what do you think? yp

If your insurance will cover it, I see no harm in doing it. I've personally never had the Crohn's predictor test done, only the Imuran levels test, but my GI at college did mention doing it at some point for me.

Can't hurt; however there is debate on just how accurate this test may be. For some it's dead on, for others questionable and that's the problem. Because of the question on accuracy, some insurance companies feel it's an experimental thing and may not pay (it's about $400 or thereabouts out of pocket). I had the IBD First Step done - completely negative for both CD & UC... Good luck, I know how much you enjoy all of these extra tests!
