Update on my son....Deese

Hi all...John was in for SECOND hospital stay after only being out for three days. He went in for ct guided drainage again...this time they sedated him and got thge drain in. He was in alot of pain after...gas I guess...they had to give him morhine IV so they admitted him...then he spiked a fever of 102.7...so in for another night of blood tests chest x rays etc. The docs all make these procedurs sound so easy and run of the mill...but for my son this procedure has so far been a nightmare. Now we empty the bag orselves and he goes back every five days to get the dressing changed...then another ct scan...I think number seven in 10 days...to see if abcess is gone...if not then surgery to remove...then Remicade which may or may not cause a deadly cancer...not to mention all the radiATION from repeated ct scans....I am going crazy with worry!!!! Sorry neede to vent to folks who understand the nightmare of CROHNS!!!!! Deese Ps... in the meantime my son is trying to finish college,and I am trying to work and take care of my son....my job has the medical benefits... soryy for the pity party lol

You will get through this! It seems as though you will not but you will. It is such a hard illness to live with and or watch your own child go through. Be there for him and please please stay strong for him. I am almost 27 and have had the disease for 7 years. I have a severe case of it. I have come along way because of my attitude and support from my boyfriend and parents. I believe that was a BIG part of it! I saw them strong so figured I could not give up. He will get through this and see positive. We are all here for you!

Quality of life is what you need to concentrate on. Please do not have fear of the Remicade studies you have seen that state what it causes. Honestly, they have to put EVERYHING that has EVER happend to anyone on any drug on the side effects, etc. Everything in life causes cancer! You know what I mean? The Remicade is not going to cause cancer, please don't worry too much there.

I am so sorry that your son is having such a hard time but you have come to the right place and as you have all ready seen we have some wounderful people here that will help in any way we can.I know right know it doesn't seem that he will get better but he will and your son is lucky to have a mom that is there for him and is careing as you are.I will keep your son in my prayers and thoughts and know you and your son is welcome any time.

Hi Deese Glad to hear he was sleeping when they did the drainage tube again. Sounds like you are taking good care of him. I had surgery for a abcess so hope this drainage tube clears it up. You will get threw this and so will he I think he probably will feel better when the infected material gets out.Sending love and Best Wishes your way. lol gail
