If you are having diarrhea as often as you describe, you will see mucus in the toilet bowl, if it is present in your stool. Mucus floats and appears almost like a sheet rippling in the wind when the toilet is flushed. The presence of mucus is not necessarily a sign of anything. Mucus is produced for all kinds of reasons and many people with no pathology will produce mucus sometimes. If the stool is formed, it often isn't discernable even when it is present. When you have diarrhea mucus is much more apparent. But mucus, especially if there is a lot of mucus, can be a sign that there's something going on.
I would be much more concerned about the frequency of your bowel movements, especially since it is a departure from your norm.
Until you can be assessed by your doctor, you might want to consider going on a liquid diet (no caffiene, no sugared drinks) Can you pick up some ensure or boost or other liquid meal supplement?
If a liquid diet -- and rest -- helps reduce the number of times you are going, then gradually add back some bland, low fibre foods and see whether you can tolerate them. Plain yoghurt is a good place to start, as it can stabilize the bacterial environment in the gut, which can get out of balance during a prolonged period of diarrhea.
The key thing here though is that you need an assessment if things don't return to your normal very soon.
