This is probably a stupid question.

I've developed a cold and am pretty miserable. I've heard that there are cold medications that I can't take though. I'm on Remicade, Entocort, and Asacol. Is this true? What am I able to take? I tried calling the doc and the office was already closed : (

What medications did you hear you were NOT to take for a cold? The only over-the-counter medications I was advised not to take were those containing non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen.

I think we can take tylenol for the pain part and fever. I had to get a antibotic for mine while on Rem had bad D for awhile .Ended with pnuemonia I also have emphysema so was a hard go but I am feeling better. I had just got off the pred, and now back on it. Let your Dr. know you have a cold don't let it get away on you. I went in as soon as I got one. Do you have a sore throat with it I did for a day at the beginning. Hope you are doing OK. lol gail

Not a stupid question. I also caught my first cold on immunosuppressants the 10th and wound up being diagnosed with a sinus infection yesterday after 10 days of being miserable but at least now I'm done with the viral stage.

Definately agree with Ides about no NSAIDS like advil, motrin, aleve. Even though those always made my symptoms better when I was pre crohn's-- BAD idea now unless you want to inflame your intestines or make them bleed.

If you have any questions about med interactions, I would call a pharmacy that is open 24 hours (like walgreens or rite aid if you guys have one and ask the pharmacist if there is an interaction with your meds to whatever cold medicine you are buying) I made them look up the alka seltzer cold plus when I bought it since it was my favorite cold med when I was pre crohn's. =0)

Um I either took tylenol for fever or when I was super congested I would take the alka seltzer cold plus on the off times I didn't take the tylenol because it contains a decongestant. Then when I started coughing, I took a cough suppressant like robitssin to help me get through the night while I was hacking.

I know THIS sounds stupid but try to make yourself rest. I am still in denial about my limitations and got severely chewed out by the urgent care doc yesterday for not taking a week off from work. I already called out sick for 2 days and missed a week of school but apparently that wasn't enough rest. =0|

i'm not sure about what cold meds you can take with what meds your on,but if you have a 24 hour pharmacy you could call them.that's what i do when i have a question and can't reach my doc.they're pretty helpful.hope this helps.please reply with any questions or comments.
