Since my diagnosis about
4 years ago, I have had so many colonoscopies and endoscopies that I have now lost count. After each colonoscopy, I have always experienced pain, but no pain after any of the endoscopies. Yesterday, I had another endoscopy due to a major flare that I have been having. I was not too woried about
it, because there was no prep and I am normally fine right after. So, I went to my scope, but when I awoke the pain was extreme. I felt like I had someone stabbing me and all the pain medicine they were giving me, barely even put a dent in it. The doctor ordered x-rays and more pain medication and valium, but all they found was trapped gas.
I have never experienced anything like this after a endoscopy and it has really confused me. My doctor found that I had severe gastritis, ulcerations, and inflammation. He has ordered a small bowel series and sent me home with loritab and xanex for pain. (the xanex for pain really surprised me, but he said that it is effective for crohn's disease) I spent the night in pain and have still not passed much gas and had only a very small bowel movement.(After much effort)
Has anyone had anything similar? I started methotrexate recently with my remicade(3 years monthly now) and wonder if it has anything to do with it.
