I take 600 mg of calcium with 400 mg vitamin d tablets. I think 1200 mg is the daily recommended amount.

This time I have only been on pred since Nov. I started on 60mg, and am on 40mg now.. So i sure have a long taper to go. 2 years ago i was on it for oh say 7-8 months.. Just concerned at 28 if I continue to have to go on it at times what are my bones going to look like later in life... I have a GI apt. wed I will review this with him also.. thanks

I take 1000mg/day with vitamin supplements but I also eat a lot of cheese to make up for it. I DO think it is between 1000-1200mg/day for a woman.

I have Vit D with my multi vitamin and if you go outside in the sun w/o sunscreen for 10 min, your body makes it naturally. It's kind of hard here in seattle when it is overcast (we're vit D deprived esp in the fall/winter) but in most areas it should work when you go outside.
