How many of you get stressed and flare during the holidays. My daughter always flares at the holidays and so far I'm doing okay. Only a slight uptick of disease activity. Just was wondering if anyone else feel worse while dealing with holiday festivities.

I am feeling a little stressed but not because of the holidays. I moved away from my son recently and he's flying out to visit at Christmas so I'm pretty excited about it. He's never seen Colorado and we're to get snow while he's here and I'm taking him snowboarding (no I don't ski, I'll be inside with a hot toddy). I am having a flare because I've been off crohn's meds since February.

Im stressed but because of finals AND the holidays and money all together. My disease is doing fine but I find I have to "go" a little more on the mornings that i have exams... most likely due to stress. Speaking of which I think I skipped my meds today. Oops. Gotta go take those! bye!

The holiday stress is killing me. Stress causes me to be sick but not flare. I actually think what a coincedence that you posted this, I was getting ready to post something similar. Between the holidays, my kids giving me grief, and work, I am really having a hard time. Been having to use my emergency chill medicine for two days in a row. I'm at work right now, so I can't take it here without it making me loopy. All I ask is, God give me strength. My sanity is hanging on by a thread. But at least I still have that thread, right!

I said stress with slight disease. This is typical for me although last year and this year it is major. I was hospitalized 2 days before Christmas when I was 8 years old and had my diagnosis made while I was there and I remained in the hospital for 6 weeks. I find that since my disease came about around the holidays I find that every year I stress in general about flaring which in turn typically makes me flare. My flare at the holidays usually is helped by the medrol dose pack

In my job the busiest four weeks of the year are from the week before Xmas to the week after New years. We get all our new product in and have to redo our entire showroom. Then we have a 5 day show to kick off the new year where we start selling our new Xmas product for 2008. Yup, I do Xmas 365 and half the time I don't know what year I'm working on!
But to add stress to this year, I have been sick and can't go to work. So I have left my boss to do it all. Can you say guilt!!! I just feel so bad, but I know that if I push myself to go to work and help out, I will have nothing left to do Xmas for my family. I usually only work 12 - 18 hours a week but during these weeks I work upwards of 60 hours, so it really is going to be hard for my boss to cover for me, but there really isn't anything I can do. I am old enough and wise enough to know that it is only a job and my family and health come first! But I will still stress! Merry Xmas to all!

I always flare at this time of year. I get so worried about money and gifts and making everyone happy , I start losing sleep weeks before xmas. By xmas I am exhausted and sick. It is nobody's fault... I guess there are just so many expectations for everything to be perfect.....my greatest worry is always not having anything under the tree for my girls. I always manage and they are always happy but I am always relieved when the holidays are over. Plus I absolutely panick if I have to go out during xmas holidays. Its hard saying no to goodies and different foods and I'm not always comfortable saying "i'm so sorry but I can't eat that I have crohns disease...then the host feels bad and offers to make me something different. So I usually end up refusing invitations or eating what is in front of me....which leads to major problems.
Anyway, my ideal xmas would be to be stuck in the boonies somewhere....a nice cabin in a snowy forest...with xmas music, the silence of nature, clean air....with time for prayer and reflection and giving thanks. (with my girls and brand new grand baby)Perfect!
This holiday madness gets me every year.
