Any Ideas on getting my cf baby to eat

Hi,

 I'm new and 9 months ago I had a little girl she was born with twisted intestants,she had ostomy bags for a while and then we got the news her genetic profile came back positive for cf

My problem is she is taking a bottle just fine and still not gaining weight they want her to start eating but she hates food

She is 13 lbs and has cf and short gut syndrome

I think I'm gonna go nuts is anyone out there having the same problem

I just wanted to say welcome too Healingwell.

I've not come across this problem myself. My brother has a twisted bowel, but, he rarely actually experiances any problems. He is 20 and really skinny, but so far no soltion is offered except treat blockages in his bowel straight away with laxatives, and regular scans to make sure he's not got any huge obstructions. I knwo ways of getting older kids and adults too eat, but I don't think they'll help you.

I hope someone knows something about this and can respond too you. Sorry I can't be helpful.

Thanks for responding not many people have any ideas for me but I thought I would try
Anything we give her to eat she spits,turns her head,screams or just vomits everywhere I think its a power struggle lol

Hi:

I am not sure how much this will help..but here goes.  You could try the bottle trick. Place cereal in your babies bottle and shake it until it dissolves.  You can make the formula the consistency of a milkshake.  Then puncture larger holes in the nipple and see if you daughter will take this.  If this is sucessful you can also try to put pureed fruits and vegetables in the bottle and get her to take them this way.

Let me know if it works.  I used the cereal trick to help my Son with really bad reflux when he was a baby.

I wish it did work she will take cereal before bed and thats it
She confuses me my 2 boys were chow hounds I've never had this problem before
She is not gaining like they want she is 5 pounds under weight at 9 months so they are talking about a feeding tube which I really don't want but I may have no choice
Thanks for the ideas I havn't tried pureed fruits or veggies yet so we will try that
