Hey everyone!

So I know there are some really good artists out there in the CF world (one of the many ways we can we entertain ourselves in the hospital) but I, unfortunately, am not one of them. Lately, I have really, REALLY wanted to get a tattoo, but I want it to be something meaningful to me (and of course every other CFer in the world).

I was wondering if anyone had done any little tidbits or anything having to do with "65 roses".

I would like a tattoo that somehow incorporates the phrase "65 roses" or "sixty-five roses" in some way intermingled with...well...roses :) something intricate and pretty :)

I'm always looking at people's tattoo's and asking, "hey! What does that mean?" and I think it would be really cool if people asked me about my "sixty-five roses." It's a tiny little thing, but hey, I want to do my little part to help spread the awareness!

Hi Em, sorry haven't responded. Been a bit bleurgh this week.

Anyway, I'm not too good at drawing or anything so can't really help with that, but I could maybe help with ideas.

How big are you wanting the tattoo?

I once had the ideas, that I was gonna get 65 seperate roses, tattoed. I'm currently at 5 and have given in that idea for no, because of the expense of doing it.

I have a small rose on one arm, that could probably have 65 roses wrote under it, as it's quite neat and petite.
The other 4 roses I have are on a sinle black vine snaking from the back of my hand, to about half way between my hand and elbow.
This one I sort of designed myself, but the tattooist did the main bit. He tattooed it totally free hand on my arm.

My other CF tattoo, was going to be a skull and cross bones with roses snaking through and round the eyes, with flames coming up and 6 roses printing underneath. But, haven't got round to it yet. Need to get my rose vine finished first, as that's going to finish up at the top of my arm.

If you can't find someone to design for you, you should be able to pop into the tattoo shop, and ask them to design what you want. Tattoists are generally really good artists, and will sit down and draw what you describe, until it's perfect for what you want.

Good luck with it, and post pictures when you get your tattoo done! I'm gonna get pictures of my tatt's tomorrow, as the lightings a bit too dark right now. I'll post them when I get a chance:)

Is there anyone here wanting to undertake a project and paint 65 roses on a pickguard for me? I really want to make some CF benefit concerts happen, and if I get to play, well ... it would just be too sweet. Also it would be sweet if I don't get display it publicly because I would know it came from someone who at least has some idea as to what I -- and thousands of others -- go through.

timboy, what's a pickguard?

I'd be happy to paint, though it probably wouldn't be great, and I live thousands of miles away lol.

Howdy-
I have a question about the 65 roses. I was wondering what the meaning of them are? You see I just had a very dear friend pass away from complications with CF.
Darkies Gem- A pickguard is on the front of a guitar to protect the top from pick scratches. I currently have a wolf decal on my Martin. The place I got it from could probably do something with roses.

But for others who may not know:




"65 Roses" is what some children with cystic fibrosis (CF) call their disease because the words are much easier for them to pronounce.


The rose, appropriately the ancient symbol of love, has become a symbol of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. So it is that 65 Roses® is a registered trademark of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.



People will have the tatoo in honor of or memory of a freind or family member. Miley Cyrus recently got the tatoo.



What a great tribute and a touching story of how the children started this trademark for CF.
