Brand new here. Just registered tonight. My daughter was diagnosed with CF in August at four years old. Quite a learning curve for us. We have a question tonight: she's been coughing for a month and her pediatrician (not a CF specialist, but knows our daughter has CF) suggests experimenting with antibiotics until results get back from the lab on swabs she took just today for psuedomonas. We've been over a week on sulfatrim and no improvement and today received a second prescription for cepil. She also gave us a prescription for cipro and said we can get that one filled if we want to. Is this normal? I thought experimenting with drugs was not a good idea with CF patients because you want to do whatever you can to prevent a CF patient from building up unnecessary immunities to drugs by experimenting like this.
