Does anyone know anything about any restrictions on interactions between people with Cf and people with Lupus? I have a friend with Lupus and would like to know if I should avoid direct contact with them, whether that be hanging out to kissing to etc.

I really don't understand what Lupus is, so I can't make out what, if any, dangers I put myself in by being around this friend, nor do I know if being in her company poses any health threats on her end.

Any info/help would be greatly appreciated, especially with Thanksgiving break coming up!

Lupus is an auto-immune disease, meaning the body is attacking itself. It strikes women 9 to 1 over men and usually shows up between ages 14 & 45

It is a manageable disease and very seldom fatal.

It is not in anyway contagious and not sexually transmitted. There are no exceptions.

Timboy hang out with your friend and kiss her all you like...your 100% safe and so is she because neither one of you are contagious.    tongue

Looks like you got your answer, Lupus is not contagious. It cannot be passed from one person to another. Also CF is not contagious and is strictly genetic.

Hey,

The only threat I can think of that CF imposes, are the infections that we get. However, CF psuedomonas has mutated to grow in the conditions of CF lungs. It's why some mutations of Psuedomonas are pretty easy for us to get rid of, and other mutations the general population of CF sufferers are colonised with.

I doubt that our infections are bad to someone with Lupus. I think we can cause problems for very very ill patients, like people with end stage cancer and HIV. But, from what I know, we cannot pass our infections onto anyone else other than those also with CF and also the others I mentioned.

As Kitt has said, CF is genetic so definitely not contagious. I know nothing about Lupus, but I think Jane has given good information regarding it.

Thanks a lot guys. I really appreciate the information. And just in time -- she came to visit me in the hospital today, and I'm happy to be able to see her over the holiday while we're both home.

And the kissing part was just so I know whether to watch out for mistletoe when we're together this holiday season. :-)
