hi everybody,
i would like to tell you a bit about myself... i am 31 live in ireland originally from germany.
I came to join this forum because i suffer from MDD panic attacks, as well as epilepsy, PCOS and insulin resistancy...
On top of that I had a slipped disc and was operated on the beginning of Jan. 2008.
Since then my depression got worse and my doctor changed my antidepressants from citalopram 40 mg to cymbalta 60 mg.
Thanks god its 5 am here and i have my peace...
Is anybody out there that has experiance with cymbalta?

I do not have experience with Cymbalta....but I wanted to welcome you to HW. It is late at night here in the US, so I don't know that you will receive many responses until tomorrow (or while you sleep!)

I do, however, have experience with back surgery. I've had 2 myself. You are obviously still in the healing stages and I hope your recovery is going well. Walk, walk, walk..and nothing else..that is what my doctor's orders were for my first 6-8 weeks after surgery. He wanted me walking at least 2 miles a day.

well thank you..the problem with the walking is that with depression ( the stage i am in at the moment) I can t even go shopping...Well thaks anyway> i ll try to sleep now....

Welcome to HealingWell and I am Kitt.  I take Cymbalta 90 mg daily.  It works ok but I still have issues with depression so I do fight my battles but I have found so many wonderful members here to support me that I have to admit my problems are small compared to others.

I am so glad you  joined us and I hope you find peace here.

thank you very much! I am at a very low point at the moment.
But since i had this illness for so long I know there must come better times.
We all just have to be patient...

Hi there and Welcome to HealingWell!

There are lots of people who have experience of Cymbalta here. You might want to try searching for some threads with Cymbalta in the title... im sure there are loads. Most people seem to get on well with it, but if you have problems there are plenty of others out there. We'd love to see you in the Epilepsy forum as well if you fancy dropping by.

The epilepsy is not a problem for me at the moment. I am on Epilim for 12 years now and sizure free..

I can even remember my last fit... smurf
I dont know if i ll be able to write anything usefull there...
But if you think it would help others I ll give it a try.

HI there,

i take 60 mg's of cymbalta everymorning and it didn't really start helping me untill i went into an outpatient group therepy program it was from 10 to 4:40 everyay for 3 weeks or so. there were 6 therepists.a shrink you saw 3 times a week and when I finnally faced my issues on one of the groups, and worked on them for two weeks I feel no more depression. I am so happy now. do you see a pcyhocologist or a shrink? that really helps too I don't think scymalta can help alot of people unless they are in talk therepy as well. not like mine nessararely. But even just once a week with a therepist who you like . Somethimes it takes a long time to find one thats good.

I'm taking Citalopram 40 mg. But my doctor also prescribed a multivitamin that has been shown to increase the effects of an antidepressant. It's called Deplin, and I have to say that it does help quite a lot. Although if you skip out on it for a few days, it won't help for a bit and then it'll kick in again. When you were taking citalopram, did you have highs and then really low lows? That's what I'm experiencing that. I was just wondering if it was just me or if that is a side effect. Thanks.

@knitwit: I was in therapy from when i was 9 years old to about when i was 18 and then again ina day clinic for 3 months in 2002 didnt help me....
I am happyfor you that you could work on yourself and sort things out I don t seem to be able to.

@froggy: I am taking 60 mg cymbalta for 2 months now and is has gotten worse....
I also take Vitamin B complex , Vitamin C and multi Mineral.
With the Citalopram it was like heaven at first and after about 4 years the effects wore off and it wasn t working anymore. I didn t have highs except in the beginning and after about three months i was stable.

So I guess. depression really sticks to you like honey. This is just great. I'm gonna be on meds for the rest of my life. You should talk to your doctor to tell him/her that it's gotten worse. Have you taken any other meds besides Citalopram and Cymbalta?

We always welcome people onto Epilepsy to share their story with other people. The fact that you have been seizure free for 12 years is fantastic. Also, we dont have many members who take sodium valporate / epilim. I think you could help other people and that could, in turn, help you.

I read your post and you know that everybody reacts differently to meds. Keep on w/the cymbalta and see what happens it just didn't work for me because my depression was about recouperating from menengitis i got from my dog. after I came home from the hospital, i took to my bed on cymbalta and stayed on the bed for 5 months before anybody in my family did something about it.

I also want to welcome you to the forum. There is a great bunch of people here who are very caring and compassionate, feel free to come on at any time.

Oh yes, for the walking. When I couldn't get myself to go out, I would walk in place. That might help you too.
