hey all...wow, i'm not sure where to start...i was diagnosed with bipolar when i was 16yrs old(i'm now 34)..for the most part i've usually been able to control my depression without meds because i just didn't like the whole meds issues...but that changed for me a few weeks ago, my husband and i have been having issues since he got home for his last deployment, alot of fights and stress. well i found out that he had been emailing a girl he met while he was deployed, he claims that they're just friends and nothing ever happened and i'm trying hard to believe him but i'm not sure since he kept this a secret for over a year, but anyways after finding that out i overdosed on pain meds and had to be hospitalized for a week and have been put back on meds. my home life is still really stressful since my husband still doesn't think he's done anything wrong and it's hard for me to even try to get over it...so i know my depression is really bad right now even on the meds and i don't have my first physc appt til next week so i just feel so alone, i try to tell my husband how i feel and somehow it gets twisted or he just doesn't understand how devastated i am right now... sorry to have rambled on like this...it's just nice to know maybe there are other people out in the world that understand what i'm feeling and how i'm feeling

Welcome to the forum,we are very glad that you are here.

Marriage is hard enough,then to have your husband deployed,and then to have the email situation.. YIKES

I think that you should get yourself into some type of therapy.. Especially with the BiPolar (my son is also bipolar he is 17).
In order to get better we have to change our enviroment,so if your home life is stressful,there is no way that you can get better. Couples counseling...does the Army have that service provided for you? If so take advantage of it.

Men can be stubborn, I myself am going thru the "email drama" with my b/f.... His Ex girlfriend who has shown up at our door at 3am, has started sending him emails that say "hi" and that is it.
He did tell me about it,and I asked him to reply to her and tell her that he did not want to correspond with her. But,he refuses to do that because he says that if he does then she would send a hundred emails.
UGH
She is much older than me,and I would think that she would be more mature.

Do you know the content of the emails? Is he talking about his family? If so,then I would not be too concerned,if she is in the service too,then they might need to talk that out.

welcome! I am here since just a few days but the people here are fantasic. So caring and I must say beeing here helped me a lot. I am sorry to hear about your hubby but could it really be just innocent? My boyfriend chats to a lot of girls and I let him. I know he never will leave me and he loves me, so thats all I have to know.

Heather, Welcome to HealingWell. This is a great site. I look forward to getting to know you better.
I am sure you will soon learn that the members here are kind and caring.  I am sorry you are going through a rough time but seeing a good therapist can help you get through this sad time in your life.  We are here to support you but we cannot take the place of a professional so why not use both of us.

Hi Heather,

I am fairly new to this forum too and everyone here is wonderfully supportive. My mother-in-law was bi-polar (she was dx with manic/depression when she was a teenager) and I took care of her for many years. I understand that you don't like the medications but you want to be well so they are very important part of your getting well. Also know that if one medication doesn't work there are many other options available.

It sounds like you have gotten some pretty good advice here. And we are all very supportive of eachother. So you have come to a good place. Keep posting and I hope this is all an innocent thing going on.

If you are interested...I would suggest seeing Chaplain Bob Epperly(I might have misspelled his name, but that is how it sounds) out at Fort Riley (I have had classes w/ him and he is cool).
