My doctor prescribed me Wellbutrin that I have been on for 7 days.  I don't feel any different.  How long does it take before it starts working.  I am being treated for mild depression and ADD.

Hi Suzyq30,

It can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks for it to be completely working, though you may notice some things sooner.  Such as being able to think clearer and your energy level may go up.  So give it time and be patient. 

I wish you luck with the wellbutrin.  I use to take it but take effexor now. 

Your doctor may increase your dose too if you don't notice something by four weeks.

I take a low dose of Wellbutrin (300mg) since it is contraindicated with my anti-depressant. When I started, my doctor said wellbutrin is different because it works quickly. You should notice a difference within the first three days if the dose is adequate. Wellbutrin is not usually used on its own.

 I currently take wellbutrin and it took several weeks before noting that the dosage was not enough and several adjustments before my doctor and i agreed on the right dosage for me. we are still adjusting my other meds but leaving the wellbutrin alone. so i would say that overall it may take a couple of months to get your wellbutrin adjusted correctly.

I went to the doctor and she wants to give it till I get back from vacation to up my dose.  Currently I am on 150mg and feeling no different but it has only been a couple of weeks. Hopefully when I return she will up my dose and I will start to feel a little better.

yes, it took a while but i am currently taking 300 mg and i find that it is helping a lot.

150mg is a low dosage. Its probably just a starting dose to get you up and going. After 4-6 weeks I would think the doctor would be happier about looking to increase the meds until an effective dose is found. Until then it is pretty much just a waiting game unfortunately.
