I was on Cymbalta for a couple weeks and I had diarrhea many times a day and changes of underwear sad . My head was really strange, nausea, dizziness. I just had enough and really wonder about these new drugs.  Have been on Elavil 25mg. for many years. It helps to sleep at night but big weight gain.

My doctor is talking about putting me on Wellbutrin. How has it worked for others? I go to him Monday.

Will look up for help and not get discouraged.

I have never taken cymbalta, but have taken welbutrin. It helped me to think clearer and gave me some energy. But a high dose made me edgy and it made food taste funny. That doesn't always happen to everybody though, just had to happen to me. I take effexor now and am happy with it.

Good luck with the wellbutrin.

nono  Unless it has another brand name, I have never taken Wellbutrin BUT I have taken Cymbalta - with drastic results..

I have fibromyalgia, and diabetic poly-neuropathies, my endo prescribed cymbalta for me for DPN pain and it did help. I took it for about a year. However, I also developed a disastrous gamboling problem. After stopping the pill the gamboling problem went away in 2-3 months time.

If you have ANY issues with addictive behavior, OCD anything at all that causes you to do become Even a little obsessive (even House cleaning) BE VERY CAUTIOUS in using Cymbalta.

I'm on Cym now - but I slowly got used to it - starting at 30 mg, then increasing to 60 mg, and I am having no problems. It also helps with my pain - just a little. I tried to get Wellbutrin because I have heard good things about it. My insurance will only cover the generic form, and my Doc said the generic form is a joke.

Good luck and keep us posted - I'm interested in the outcome

Thank you all for your replies. AZ, I think Cymbalta is not so easy to take for me anyway,I felt terrible while on it. Tried before and had no help now I know it isn't just me. Tried at 30mg. then to I was afraid to up it to 60mg. even though my md gave me some to try.
Karen, I have heard that about many generic drugs that do not work. My prescription insurance pays almost the same for Wellbutrin, as the generic, that says something.
I have heard more good newa about Wellbutrin, will try it so many new antidepressants out there it takes someone smarter than me to figure it out.... Hey, they don't have people from healing well to help though like we do.

mad  Been on the brand name wellbutrin xl. Stopped taking as I was really angry and felt it was the wellbutrin but I am still on 5 mg. Prednisone so not sure. It messes u up too. Could not sleep at all.

Guess i will go back on Elavil 25mg. been on it for years without a problem  but weight gain was bad.

I am on Wellbutrin and love the results.  However, i am loosing my hair.  It is one of the side effects.  i am going to do blood work and if nothing shows up I may have to switch meds.  Of course I am not one of the lucky people to drop weight which i can afford to do.

I haven't read anything about wellbutrin and hair loss, but it seems like not too long ago somebody posted something about it. You might want to start a thread about your question. More people would be apt to see it.

I have been on Wellbutrin since January. I want to emphasize that I am taking the name brand medication by Glaxo-Smith-Kline that is now owned by Biovail. I was put on the generic by Teva last October and within a week. It was bad.

I've done very well on Wellbutrin. However, I also take 200mg of a supplement called l-theanine. It's a pure extract of green tea that has very calming effects. I've noticed that a lot of folks have reported anxiety on Wellbutrin or are taking Wellbutrin and Ativan. Consider talking to your doctor about l-theanine as an alternative to Ativan. It works well for many people however, I do stress - make sure you make the switch under doctors supervision.
