Hi Donna,

I am so very sorry about your son. I lost my nephew to suicide last month. It is so hard to handle. There are so many questions and 'what ifs'. Please accept my condolences.

I take effexor, 375mg every day. I have been on that dose for a long time. If effexor comes out in generic soon, I hope that the generic is just as good as the name brand. They say that there is no difference, but I know better. But if I didn't have insurance, mine would cost over 600.00 a month. I guess that I am very fortunate to have insurance.

I hope that the pristiq works for you until you get the generic effexor.

Hi Donna,

I am so sincerely sorry about your son and thank you so much for being proactive in pointing out the possible side efects of medications.  I am a great believer in advocating for yourself. 

Patients have rights.

Karen, I still pray for you every day too.

Hope the meds all work out and when Effexor goes generic the price will be more reasonable.

I changed from Effexor to Pristiq about two months ago and have been extremely pleased with it.  Even my skin and teeth feel better.  Weird, but I guess it's because it doesn't dry me out so badly.  I've noticed I don't sound as stressed when I talk, too.  Whatever the reasons, I'm very grateful for the improvement.

Hello everyone..

I'm a newbie...
I was just put on Pristq about a week ago. I'm going through a lot of changes now, and my head can't handle it. So far I'm happy with the results. Not too bad side effects. I'm glad I found this site. Now I have to check with my insurance company to see if its covered... hmmmm

Do check with your insurance company as it is a real shocker to pull up to pharmacy and find out your owe $100 or more for one med.

Yikes.  I am hearing good things on Pristiq but it is still very new on the  market.
