Never get answers when I post on another forum, wondering why

I also post on the allergies/asthma forum and I hardly ever get many answers to my questions.  I do get some answers but mostly just one or two.  Why is it that some forums don't get people responding to your questions?  What I am asking is all logical and the type of questions that anyone with asthma would probably have a suggestion for. I just need some help on certain things but don't get responses.  They must have moderators on that forum. Anyway, I was just curious because when you post here you always seem to get a lot of responses.  Just needed to vent as I am frustrated about it.

Hi Aurora,

I guess all forums are different. I don't know why you aren't getting any responses to your posts. Did you start your own thread or post on somebody elses? I can find who the moderator is and bring it to their attention. Hopefully you will get your questions answered. I don't think I have ever been on asthma/allergies forum, I will have to check it out.

How have you been? Are you feeling better than you were? I sure hope so.

Where I am there has been some pretty dreary weather. The sun did peek out for a bit today, but not for long. We had a freeze last week and I lost most everything in my greenhouse. Now it is suppose to snow, then warm back up. What crazy weather in Michigan.

I always talk about the weather when I can't come up with the right words to say. I guess that is because it is always a constant thing. My mind isn't the best at this point, but I try.

I hope that you are having a wonderful evening Aurora. I will try to find out what is going on with that forum for you.

Hi Karen,  thanks so much for your answer and for trying to help me.  I am feeling so much better. My surgery is over and I am recovered, very quick which I am happy about.  My only problem is my asthma which has me almost house bound since I am having so much trouble breathing.  I am going to a lung specialist for a second opinion on Wed. so I am hoping he will be able to tell me what is wrong or come up with better meds to control my breathing.  I'm hoping to look for a part time job but can't get one until I can breathe freely.  I am starting to feel better too about the loss of my dog.  I am startiing to come to terms with it and although I am still sad I know he is at peace and no longer in pain.  I wish it would get cold here - if we had a hard freeze it would kill all the pollen and mold and then maybe  I would feel better.  Again thanks for trying to help me.  You are really a good friend.

Hi Aurora,

Everything is different and relative and such. I guess not getting answers on the Asthma forum can help you to enjoy the answers you get here more. As it is with all things, we don't know what we have until it is gone. We don't appreciate the obvious and "normal" things until we become aware of them (most of the time we become aware through loss).

Aw well, I see that I am writing in my dreamy language again :-). I hope you can see the positive side of not having much responses in the Asthma forum. I think the lung specialist will give you most of the answers you need. And since I have now access to medical stuff as well, you can always ask me, and I will see what I can do for you.

Hi Aurora,

I can understand how these things happen because I moderate on epilepsy as well. We are quite spoiled over here in depression because it is a huge forum and there is usually someone online at any given point. Other forums (Such as Epilepsy, A&A etc...) are much smaller and questions can go unanswered for days because there simply isnt anyone online.

Hi Aurora :) I had to pop in here and explain the situation with the Allergies/Asthma forum for you. My co-moderator for A/A is on a sick leave and she is the one that answered most of the asthma related questions. I tend to stick to the allergy questions since that is what I am more knowledgable in. The A/A forum is very slow and we don't have regular members like the larger forums. Sometimes patience is the key when dealing with the smaller forums. Yes, we tend to get spoiled with the larger forums because someone is always online to help you 24/7. But A/A just doesn't have that as well as some of the smaller forums.

I moderate a smaller forum too, GERD.  The members are really great but there are a lot fewer so you don't get as much response. This is normal in most forums. 

Here is an example:

Anxiety/Panic      posts  45,615

Depression          posts    35,288

GERD/Heartburn   posts   14,665

Allergies/Asthma  posts     7,180

These numbers were accurate tonight.  I am sorry you did not get a response as quickly as you would have liked.  I know Carla, one of the Mods is battling Asthma and severe Fibro now.  She is working hard to get back online.

I am glad you are doing ok here.  Tomorrow is chat Tuesday if your available. turn

Hi Aurora,

Just write to us in this forum. We could always cheer you up and vice versa. I have a hard time communicating how I feel because with depression you feel like life is in slow motion. It is extremely frustrating!

Hi Linda, and thank you for your reply.  It means a lot to me.  I have made so many good friends on this forum and it is great to be able to help others as well as ask for help.  I hope we will be good friends too.  Maybe i'll see you in chat on Tues.  I usually am less depressed at this time of year (isn't that crazy) but I am feeling down now since my asthma has gotten so out of control.  I used to wheeze only when I had a cold or bronchitis but now it has become chronic.  I have been this way siince July.  Don't know what is creeping into me but I see a new pulmonologist on Wed so hopefully he will have the answers or get me on better meds. I get so scared when I can't get enough air in my lungs. And I have been mostly housebound as it is hard to go out when you can't breathe.  Well, I tend to ramble, but it is nice to meet you and I hope we can have many more conversations.

Thanks Kitt and Red for your answers.  I guess patience is not one of my virtues, but I do understand that the smaller forums do get less responses.  Seeing new dr. on Wed so will let you know the results of the visit.  This one is supposed to be a very good dr.  Not one I am told who will tell me I can't breathe because i'm fat! Lost 40 lbs but I guess that wasn't good enough for him.
