Can we file disability because of depression?

Hi Eli,

I am going to file for it. I also have fibromyalgia though. But there are many people who get disability for depression. I think it depends on how bad you are. Or how severe your depression is.

I had filed before, but my doctor was actually a physicians assistant. So they disregarded all of my records with her. So here I go again, I have a real doctor now. I hope that you get it and I hope that I do too. It can be a long process though, so be patient.

Absolutely. I work creating disability packages for companies and Mental and Nervous provisions are included as a standard. More than likely your employer provides a plan that gives you a 2 year benefit, which goes to the age of 65 if you are institutionalized.

I have been on disability for over 2 years and before that I was on it around 2002-2004. The criteria is very strict and it is difficult to get. I live in Ohio and have dealt with depression for 20 years and have undergone every treatment in the book and I have the VNS implant for over 2 years and doesnt seem to help very much.

It is possible but very difficult to get. Believe me, I would rather be healthy than be on disability. If you can though, try to get it.
