Monday roll call

Hi everybody,

I spent some quality time with my pets this weekend.  Even got a short walk in on Saturday.  Not much since I haven't been feeling too good and the weather isn't the greatest.  But it did us all so much good.  I always feel better around my dogs.

Do you have pets, and if so, do they help you to feel better when you are depressed?

Mine usually do.  Unless I am anxious, then I get nervous and I don't want to be around anything.  But they seem to understand and meander away, but are there in a second if I need them.

I have 9 dogs(3 pugs, chihuahua, min pin, shepard mix, boston terrier mix, random mixed dog, and then a short fat long dog like a corgi or something)

We have 5 cats.
1 rabbit
2 hamsters
2 fish
1 chicken

hmm...Im sure Im missing something! lol

The shepard mix(Luci) is mine and she is my medicine. She loves to run so she gives me a good fast walk thru the yard! She cuddles up to me. She licks my face ad makes me smile when Im down. She takes me away from my worries. Just unconditional love.... she gives me the cute puppy look and reminds me that she came from the shelter, I dont know where she was born, or to who, or what she dealt with before she went there. I adopted her last(they had all there animals adopted at an event) she would have gone back to the shelter and been the only one there. I look in her eyes and imagine what shes been thru or what may have happened if I hadnt gotten her... That makes me thankful for my life, that I have a roof over my head, food, clothing, and people who love me...

So, in conclusion(!), Luci's my medicine.

Karen, I don't have pets, though I love animals. Simple things as watching the birds, or the neighbour cats, can make me happy. Maybe I will have a pet later, though I have to be sure that there is enough of free room and time from me. Maybe a dog, or if it is possible a loyal bird of prey (without a cage, so it would have to fly back once in a while ).

I have a cat, whom the vet diagnosed as having 'Anxiety'. we found her dumped, abused and neglected in the bush near our house and now 9 years later she is still with us and is super clingy and needy, but OH so cute. i will be gutted when she dies, she sleeps on the foot of my bed. i know this may sound weird, but when im upset, she will climb up on me and  just settle there. she seems intuitive. my last breakup was very very messy and ultra painful and i cried for weeks and that cat just sat by my side and wouldnt leave me. i LOVE her!

I have my precious poodle Ramone.  He is thirteen and my heart and soul.  I love him dearly.  We are all so lucky to have wonderful pets.  They always give us unconditional love.

I've got a black cat named Ji Ji (my family considers black cats good luck, it's a little different than America), and I have a chow chow/shih tzu mix, and a german shepherd/ pit bull mix. I don't like the pit bull because he's just too crazy (although he's very loving and nice), but my cat and my chow chow are great when I need a friend

Welcome to HealingWell.  This is Kitt. Nice to meet you.

I have a Doberman at home, had 2 but one died a year ago.  The one I have is a sweetheart but thinks she is the boss. Her show name is By Design's Eye Witness,  her real name is Morgan

My daughter has a boarding kennel and raises and shows Doberman's and Boston Terriers.  So if I need a pet fix, I go over there to play with all the dogs I want.

Yes pets are great.
