New Members Introduction: Part 2

I just joined to get feedback and help others with their depression and other problems. I've been getting treatment for depression for just about 9 years (since I was 8) and recently spent a little over 2 weeks in a psychiatric hospital. I learned a lot, and I'm doing much better, but having a place to talk about whatever you need to and get support from other people going through the same problems as you is a great coping strategy. so, hi!

Hello to all

I am not new to healingwell only to this part of it. I suffer chronic low back and now, knee pain. Depression is often a part of chronic pain and I sure have it.

I've been on Suboxone for 10 months for pain and having misued pain medications. For depression, I use Nefazadone which was called Serzone at one time. I believe it has stopped working.

I have little joy in life, find it hard to get pleasure in things that I once loved, trouble concentrating, remembering things, sadness, crying spells, loss of libido and the rest of the "stuff" that comes with depression.

I was on testosterone gel but fell into the "coverage gap" in medicare so I've been low for two months. Due partly to the narcotic in suboxone, my testosterone level falls off the chart. I have no drive at all whether it be sex or just ambition.

My doctor is willing to try another anti-depressant or two at once as it has been nearly a year with only small improvements. Can anyone suggest a good medication? I've been on most SSRI's and Welbutrin. Sadly I did not tolarate the Welbutrin well. I felt very racy-hearted along with anxiety feelings. Anxiety is a co-feature of my depression but not always present.

Hi Glen,

Serzone didn't work well for me either and I had the same problem as you with the wellbutrin, plus it made everything taste funny. So I ended back on effexor with abilify added and that is working good for me.

I may have responded to one of your other posts, because I take effexor and abilify also. I think I said that before today, though it could be fibrofog.

Eitherway, welcome to the forum, If I haven't already welcomed you. This is a wonderful place to come and be able to be yourself, since none of us really know who eachother are. I think that helps us to get things out and feel safe about it.

I was glad that I was there to post. It all depends what time I check the forums. But I am usually on and off throughout the day. Especially now in the winter. There isn't much for me to do when it is like this. Snow, snow, snow... and more snow. I hope to get out soon and crosscountry ski. Then I can handle winter. I want to go daily so that I can strengthen up and lose some weight.

As you can see, winter is getting the best of me this year. We have a lot of snow and it has been cold. Though the sun was out today and it was a lot nicer. Lifts the depression a little with the sun shining.

First of all, welcome to the forum! I think that you will like it here. Everybody is so kind and compassionate. I look forward to more of your posts. Stay with us, we will try to help you.

I am happy to see that you do have the ball rolling. I know that four months is a long wait when you need to see a doctor. Can you have them put you on a list for if somebody cancels? That would be cool if you could get in sooner.

It must be hard having to live with your parents again. Hopefully you will be able to get a place of your own eventually. It is lucky that you have them there for you to give you a place to stay until you can get on your feet.

I am glad that you are getting help with your meds and doctor's visits. That is so very important. I am sorry that your current meds aren't helping much. Hopefully when you see your doctor, you can get a med change.

Do you have any children? It is so hard in your situation to have children too. Though I am sure that you would do anything for them.
