Hi.   I am new to this site and hope very much that I can find some peace and help with handling my depression and panic /anxiety attacks.  I have been diagnosed with depression/anxiety and am taking Wellbutrin and Zoloft.  Sometimes I wish I could take something which would just shut the emotions off so I could just get through the day without tears or panic.  I am approaching 50 yrs old and find myself wishing my life would have taken a different turn.  I think I am just burned out at my current job which I have had for the past 26 yrs.  I am very good at my job, just have no interest in it anymore, not to mention it has become a very negative and toxic workplace.  However, I cannot leave there until I can find something else.  Since I am not big with change, I want to find something I can enjoy and love going to work.  I think I am a postive person, although it is difficult to keep that up when your environment is not.  Anyway, thanks for listening.  Kai

hey there,
welcome. im pretty new too. i have ocd/anxiety/depression and i too struggle daily with finding a relief from emotions.

long story short, my friend in rehab (partially contributing to my depression) offered some advice...

take things a day at a time. say things like,
"today i will not feel sad. tomorrow, i might be sad, but today i wont"

don't know if that helps much, but it helped me. i have found the people on this are very nice, friend, and willing to help. good luck with everything.

Hello and Welcome....Just a suggestion...Maybe you could stop wishing life would take a different turn and make it take a turn!!!  Just do it, What ever it is u want to do!  How much worse could it get? You sound miserable u poor thing, I'm sure things will get better soon but...You only live once so whats the harm in taking a chance on making some changes??  Just a suggestion.  hugs to u!!

Welcome to HW, I am sure you will find some comfort here in one way or another. Even the most positive persons sometimes need support.

Gilly already has given you so great advice. Nothing changes until something changes. Maybe you could write down a few things that you would like to happen. Maybe there are some you can have influence on. Now is the perfect to, for instance, start playing the piano if that has always been a wish of you.

I hope that you enjoy your stay here, and that find joy again!

with regards to your job I hope you can find the job you are looking for soon, pray for god and I know he can help you. don't loose hope, you never know what could happen, you can get surprised, may 2009 be a better year for you and for all of us :)
